The mountain stream where she hiked with Thomas

This is what I imagine it might have looked like when Thomas took the heroine on that little Sunday hike– except, that the trees were all scrub oaks in fall colors, and there was no bridge. This particular spot is near the highway in Big Cottonwood Canyon east of Salt Lake City, Utah. It was June, and the water was icy.
